PlatformAlt5 our story
Are you an ambitious brand looking to punch above your weight or an agency looking to take your content marketing to the next level? Are you a creator, maker, collaborator, student, influencer, investor or journalist? Hello from PlatformAlt5. This is our story so far.
Why we exist?
Some time ago, I started to think about my purpose. On a journey of self-discovery, I undertook various online character assassination tests. I spoke to trusted friends, colleagues, and clients, sharing my business ideas on a scrappy piece of paper. Fatih Mehtap gave me invaluable advice to focus on what I'm passionate about in order to wake up everyday and stay motivated no matter what life throws at you. The next day, I signed up with a personal fitness trainer, 'Vik Pandya'. I read several business books, including 'Start With Why' by inspirational business leader Simon Sinek. It's about the transformative power of having a purpose to inspire action and create a lasting impact. The backstory behind Simon's power of purpose is.... lots of businesses know what they do, some (but not all) know how they do it and hardly any know why they do it. Businesses with a powerful 'why' exponentially outperform those without. Consider how Apple sells products... Why? Everything we do.. we believe in challenging the status quo. We believe in thinking differently. How? The way we challenge the status quo is by making our products beautifully designed, simple to use and user-friendly. What? We just happen to make great computers.. wanna buy one? Watch Simon's original Ted Talk here.
Setting up a business takes resilience, and after eating my way through lockdown, I felt physically and mentally unfit. My fitness journey was more about being mentally and physically fit to support venturing into unchartered territories. Horrified at having to acknowledge my body weight, we got started. Sending photos of what you eat and drink daily is humbling and humiliating. After a sweaty stumble of a start, my fitness level improved, and I can now do real press-ups using my hands and toes (not knees). I feel stronger mentally, and most importantly, I've realised that small incremental changes over time ladder up to gargantuan results.
So, with a renewed sense of purpose, riding the crest of a wave from all the incredible things I've discovered, and working with and meeting the most extraordinarily talented people, this is how PlatformAlt5 started.
Our mission possible?
To help ambitious brands and extraordinary people from different walks of life and cultures to realise their creative potential.
Brand naming
There are many ways to name a business or a brand. There's the good, the bad and the uninspiring. Obvious and descriptive names require less effort for consumers to understand; these include Paypal, Salesforce, Hotels.com, and Burger King.
Did you know that the iconic British brown sauce brand HP was named after the Houses of Parliament? Jason's Sourdough is named after its fourth-generation master baker, Jason Geary.
Following the formation of Decca Records, Universal Music Group's name and logo originated from film pioneer Carl Laemmle's Universal Pictures.
Emotive brand names are very powerful. They can help tell a story bigger than the products sold. For example, Nike, Dove, and Patagonia all focus on building a connection with consumers. If you look at Interbrand's Best Global Brands for 2023, three of the top four brands have emotive names: Apple, Amazon, and Google. Google is reported to be a misspelling of Googol, which means a very large number with 100 zeros.
Technology brand Nvidia leverages the portmanteau style of naming by combining two words together: "Invidia," which is Latin for "envy," with "Vidia," which relates to video and visual display technology to form one word 'Nvidia'.
Spotify is a mash-up of two words, 'spot' and 'identify'.
How we got our name?
When you press and hold the Alt + 5 keys on a Mac keyboard, you get the infinity symbol - ∞.
Metaphorically, a platform helps journeymakers get where they need to go. In a technology sense, platforms enable multiple products to be built within an ecosystem.
PlatformAlt5 exists to help ambitious brands and extraordinary people 'makers' realise their creative potential with limitless possibilities.
So what do you get when you work with us? A scalable content marketing engine invested in getting your brand to the next level. We celebrate being different because we are different.
Our brand's Alt+5 or infinity side relates to our ongoing commitment to developing technology solutions that support forward-thinking brands and creators to realise their creative potential.
What inspired our logo?

The 'Bauhaus Design Movement' inspired the design of the PlatformAlt5 logo. Bauhaus embodies the unification of art with craft while embracing new technology. An ethos we are very much aligned with today. We wanted to create an iconic logo that comes to life across all formats, from animation to photography. Our brand embodies the 'Explorer' and 'Outlaw' archetypes. This means we're passionate about helping brands and creators unlock their potential and purpose. We value authenticity and celebrate uniqueness. While brand consistency builds trust, we also wanted to create plenty of flexibility for creators to enjoy working with the PlatformAlt5 brand. The brand backgrounds to complement the logo are called 'light leaks'; these beautiful imperfections are caused by extra light leaking onto a photograph or film.
